Cross-Media Artist, Curator & Nonprofit Arts Administrator

Liu Qiming is a distinguished Chinese contemporary cross-media artist, curator, and nonprofit arts administrator. He graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1995 and subsequently served on the fine arts faculty at higher education institutions in China from 1995 to 2006. Between 2006 and 2017, he practiced as a full-time professional artist based in Beijing. In 2017, Liu relocated to the United States under the prestigious EB-1A Extraordinary Ability program. He is currently based in New York City, where he continues his practice as an independent artist and leads nonprofit arts initiatives.

From 2017 to 2024, Liu founded and directed the NYRCA Project, a sustained nonprofit arts organization dedicated to social interventions, curatorial exhibitions, and international cultural exchanges. In 2022, the project was honored with the Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) artist grant. In 2024, he was appointed Artistic Director of the U.S. Golf Art Foundation, where he guides and shapes the foundation’s artistic trajectory and curatorial vision.

Liu’s interdisciplinary oeuvre spans performance, installation, video, and painting. His works have been broadly exhibited in galleries and art museums across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and are held in the permanent collections of over 100 professional art institutions and private collectors worldwide. Representative projects include Sensitive Words, Buying Votes, 5·12, Give You My 272 Days and Nights, and the New York-based performance series $0.25 Coin · Breath. Grounded in the intersection between collective historical memory and contemporary social dynamics, his practice explores existential themes of human suffering, institutional critique, and the resilience of human fate.
