New York, NY — March 18, 2025

The U.S. Golf Art Foundation (USAGAF) is proud to announce its first-ever Golf Art Fellowship award to internationally acclaimed artist and art historian Hudson Shaoxia Zhang. The fellowship recognizes Zhang’s exceptional contributions to the art of golf and grants him support to develop exhibitions and programs that celebrate the intersection of golf and visual art.
With a career spanning over three decades, Zhang has pioneered golf landscape painting, blending Eastern and Western artistic traditions to capture the sport’s natural beauty, cultural significance, and historical depth. His masterful oil paintings of golf courses worldwide have redefined the visual representation of the game, offering a unique artistic perspective that resonates with both art enthusiasts and golfers alike.
The Golf Art Fellowship provides Zhang with a dedicated grant to further his work in promoting golf-inspired art through curated exhibitions, public programs, and direct engagement with the golf community. The initiative aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the artistic dimensions of golf, bridging the worlds of sport and culture through innovative visual storytelling.
“We are honored to present this inaugural fellowship to Hudson Shaoxia Zhang, whose extraordinary work has elevated the visual narrative of golf,” said Qiming Liu, Director of the U.S. Golf Art Foundation. “Zhang’s paintings not only celebrate the beauty of the game but also enrich our understanding of golf as a cultural and artistic phenomenon.”
As part of the fellowship, Zhang will collaborate with the U.S. Golf Art Foundation on a series of upcoming exhibitions and educational initiatives that will engage audiences across the golf and art communities. Through his work, the foundation seeks to inspire new perspectives on the sport, fostering dialogue between artists, golfers, and cultural institutions worldwide.
